Star

The past couple days I was at a staff retreat for church up in the mountains. We were in a log cabin in the middle of nowhere, away from any lights or smog. I hadn't been that far out of the city in a while, and it was amazing to me how I could forget the beauty of the night sky. For the first time in my life I was even able to see a fuzzy white streak in the sky that Than told me was part of the Milky Way.

I've heard lots of people before say how they really felt the vastness of the universe and the greatness of God looking at the stars, so I'm not going to tell you all about my experience. The reality is that the description of an experience is a poor substitute for having an experience anyway. With something like the night sky in the country, you really have to experience it for yourself. If you do you won't need anyone to tell you what it teaches you about God, you'll just know. Go drive to the country, the mountains if you can, and just look at the night sky for a while. Take the time, it will be worth it. Then encourage someone else to actually experience it too.
