The Goblet of Fire

My wife and I had the pleasure of going on a date a week ago (something that the birth of our child has minimized). So we decided to go to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (probably our second movie in a theater in the past year). I will freely admit that I am a Harry Potter fanatic. I was one of the people who originally said that as a Christian I wouldn’t read the books (for a good article on this go here). Then my incredibly wise wife told me I had to at least read one book or go to one movie before I could dismiss it. So we went to the first Harry Potter movie together and I loved it. I couldn’t understand why people were so adamantly opposed to these books and movies (other than that they had listened to some hard core fundamentalist who thinks the Sound of Music is risque). So ever since then I get the new books the day they come out and read them in 24 hours or less and go to the movies on opening night.

This movie was based on my favorite book and it didn’t disappoint. The special effects are amazing. Usually in a movie like this the feeling of being in some alternative world is broken at least ten times by bad CG, but there was only one time that even remotely happened. Dude, I’m like totally serious, you should like totally see this movie (don’t take my valley girl writing style as a negation of the proposition communicated in the sentence just written). So my review in a word: dang sweet.
